Course Description: 10 day workshop, not for credit. Engaging the public in marine science is critical. Living on land, most people never experience a fraction of the ocean, or the life within it, and are unaware of the scale and impact of changes occurring in the marine environment. “Out of sight, out of mind” has not served the ocean well, but current and future imaging and communications capabilities offer many opportunities to share critical ecosystems, and the science being done to understand them, with a global audience. The first seven days of the workshop will cover fundamentals of visual storytelling and help participants conceive and plan multimedia projects, with the last three days reserved for student teams to produce, screen and critique media.

Course Fees and Expenses: $1600 including housing and meals.
