Position Description: The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) located in Cocodrie, LA is seeking to fill 2 full-time positions within the education program. Both positions are based at the DeFelice Marine Center. Salary is commensurate with experience; full suite of state benefits included. Application review will start August 22, 2016.
The Marine Education Assistant will work primarily with the LUMCON K-12 programs (http://www.lumcon.edu). Duties include: lead student field and laboratory activities, maintain education spaces and equipment for cleanliness and safety, liaise with group leaders to coordinate and customize student visits, work with Assistant Director of Education on the development of activities and enhancement of programs, and some animal husbandry duties. Requirements: a B.S. in science with a background in marine environmental science, strong teamwork and communication skills, and physical ability to conduct field work, weekend/longer hours, and travel around the state.
