Position Description: The Louisiana Universities Marine Consortium (LUMCON) located in Cocodrie, LA is seeking to fill 2 full-time positions within the education program. Both positions are based at the DeFelice Marine Center. Salary is commensurate with experience; full suite of state benefits included. Application review will start August 22, 2016.

The Marine Education Associate will assist primarily with the education and outreach programs of the Coastal Waters Consortium (CWC) (http://cwc.lumcon.edu). Job duties include working with groups of pre-kindergarten to adults in the lab or field (including on vessels), aiding in the development of events and activities, maintaining social media outlets for the CWC, generating written media, working as part of a team to maintain the CWC website, interacting with journalists/reporters, going into the field with scientist to capture images or video, representing CWC and LUMCON at festivals or other public events, and performing other duties in support of the CWC education and outreach programs. Position requires weekend/longer hours and travel to various events around the state. Requires a B.S. or M.S. in marine science or science with an environmental focus.
