Resource Economist Assistant Professor

Position Description: Morgan State University’s Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory (PEARL) has a full-time research position open for an Assistant Professor in Resource Economics. The position will be responsible for developing a fishery focused on an economics research program at the PEARL. The position will help to expand the ongoing work to find sustainable solutions to managing the declining fishery resources of the Chesapeake Bay.

The candidate must have Ph.D. in resource economics with an emphasis in fishery management and industry analysis. The candidate should also have experience in resource management, have a working knowledge of the Maryland’s Chesapeake and coastal fisheries, and have a strong administrative background. He/she must have the capacity for independent work but also the ability to interact productively with colleagues. Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Morgan State University is the premier public urban research university in Maryland, known for its excellence in teaching, intensive research, effective public service and community engagement. The Patuxent Environmental & Aquatic Research Laboratory is located near the Patuxent River (part of Chesapeake Bay watershed) in Saint Leonard, Maryland. Research conducted at the state-of-the art facility is focused on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries and is designed to increase the understanding of coastal ecosystems so that they may be properly managed and protected.
