COASTAL ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY PROGRAM SPECIALIST

Position Description: The Consortium’s CEQ Program Specialist will:
1. Work with Consortium staff, research faculty at Consortium member institutions, and other colleagues to design and conduct interdisciplinary applied environmental quality research and extension projects to address needs and opportunities identified by a variety of S.C. coastal constituencies, including local governments, local and state agencies, businesses, community organizations, non-governmental organizations, and individuals. Provide leadership at local, regional, and national levels. Program areas will include:
Coastal hydrological processes;
Coastal geomorphological processes; and
Coastal ecosystem health.
2. Coordinate and conduct daily management activities of the S.C. Stormwater Pond
Research and Management Collaborative.
Serve as program coordinator for and manager of the Collaborative, including oversight of research and outreach activities and development.
Serve as the Consortium’s technical expert on stormwater ponds in partnership with other institutions and persons providing stormwater pond in-reach and outreach in South Carolina.
Prepare and deliver regular updates, reports, and outreach materials on the activities of the Collaborative.
Work with the Consortium and members of the Collaborative on the development, implementation (including funding), and management of a large-scale, multi-dimensional research, outreach, and management program focused on stormwater ponds in South Carolina and the Southeast region.
3. Participate in the development of grant proposals with Consortium staff and others to secure funding for user-based applied stormwater, water quality, and ecosystem health research and extension projects.

4. Give formal and informal presentations on the Consortium’s coastal environmental quality and Stormwater Pond Collaborative activities at state, regional, and national conferences and workshops.

5. Extend coastal environmental quality information through print and electronic products and publications, including professional and trade publications, webinars, and social media.

6. Prepare performance-based information on program objectives, benchmarks, metrics, program evaluations, and other assessment reports as required by the Consortium and its program sponsors and financial supporters.
