Director of University Programs

Position Description: BIOS seeks an experienced, committed, and self-motivated Director of University Programs who will report to the President and CEO

Qualifications:

• Strong and enthusiastic commitment to the BIOS Mission and science education
• Demonstrated experience working with international students in a home university setting and/or working with students in an international setting
• Inspirational communication and presentation skills
• PhD in a science closely related to the BIOS Mission
• Minimum five years’ experience as a senior educator
• Minimum five years’ experience in leadership, management, financial planning, fund raising and business or program development
• Experience preparing grant proposals to federal, and other, funding agencies, managing grant funding, and preparing grant reports
• Experience in personnel management, including dealing with sensitive and compassionate issues, preparing employment contracts, and recruiting instructors and teaching assistants
• Broad understanding of BIOS research and educational programs
• Strong interest in Bermuda’s heritage, environment and culture

Duties include:

• Ensuring that BIOS delivers the best possible quality and scope of experiential educational experiences to fulfill the BIOS Mission
• Driving financially sustainable growth in up-to-date and competitive educational experiences for a diverse range of students to fulfill the BIOS Mission
• Planning, designing developing and implementing University Programs strategies, plans and programs
• Leading and managing members of the University Programs team
• Serving as a senior departmental manager, collaborating with the BIOS senior management team and colleagues to ensure that University Programs makes a significant contribution to the success of BIOS
• Collaborating with overseas universities to design and deliver financially sustainable educational programs
• Financial planning, including budget preparation and management of several cost centers and grants, and reviewing BIOS Grants-in-Aid applications and awards
• Collaborating with BIOS senior management to raise funds for University Programs, as well as BIOS in general
• Management and control of the BIOS Library
• Serving as a course instructor and delivering lectures and presentations as required
• Volunteering services, as required, for BIOS events
