Course Description: FHL 568c. Research Methods in Ocean Acidification introduces students to key theory, methods, and techniques in ocean acidification research. Through a mixture of hands-on lab experience, field observations, and small-group workshops and lectures the course aims to provide students with the relevant knowledge and skills to perform ocean acidification research at their home institutions, and in other settings.Students will become comfortable with standard protocols for assessing carbonate chemistry parameters in the laboratory, gain an understanding of the underlying chemical theory, and learn how these impact the design and running of biological experiments. In addition the class will summarise key developing issues in the field of ocean acidification research and how these relate to the broader field of global ocean change.
