Course Description: MSCI 4572 Oceanographic Instrumentation. 3 semester credit hours. Undergraduate introduction to oceanographic instrumentation commonly used aboard oceanographic research vessels, by marine laboratories, and remote sensing platforms. Discusses the physical, chemical, electrical, acoustic and mechanical basis for these instruments’ operation. Presents common practices for shipboard operation and at-sea research data collection.
